April Joyce
Psychodynamic psychotherapistAbout Me
I am a qualified relationship therapist helping both couples and individuals to improve the quality of their relationships.
Couples come for therapy for a variety of reasons - wanting more emotional connection and sexual intimacy, because of repeated arguments that leave them isolated and stuck or parenting difficulties. They may be working through a separation or dealing with an affair.
Individuals might be wanting to work through the difficulties and loss of a previous relationship with the hope of enabling more meaningful connections ahead.
The calm, reflective space of therapy allows for feelings and anxieties to be talked about, acknowledged and better understood. My approach is primarily psychodynamic, which often involves exploring how our past experiences may enter the present in unhelpful ways. Greater understanding of ourselves and our partner enables us to consider our behavioural styles and choices and thereby enable positive change.
The sessions I offer are 50 minutes weekly, both short and longer term. I work with clients from a diverse range of ages and life-stages, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, gay and heterosexual.
