Interpersonal psychotherapistAbout Me
Life can be messy and very rarely goes to plan. Sometimes it can take us down difficult paths, and sometimes it can feel like it is stuck completely. I work with clients to explore what it is that is blocking their path or how they can navigate through these tricky times.
Often, things that have happened in the past can affect how we think and behave in the present. I focus on the client's present and past as a way of helping the client to notice patterns in their behaviour or thought processes that might be unwanted.
I am an intersubjective psychotherapist, meaning that I focus on the relationship between myself and the client in order to help the client to remove barriers that are standing in their path. I also use an integrative approach, slightly tailoring my approach to the client or issue at hand.
Therapy can seem to be a daunting process as it can often seem to be addressing only the negative aspects of what life throws at us, however I often encourage clients to notice their own strengths and coping mechanisms, emphasising the client's innate ability to cope with life's curveballs. Many of us never look back at how far we have come, only looking forward at the mountain we now must climb. Looking back doesn't have to be negative, it can remind us of how far we have come and how we got to where we are today.
