Relational psychotherapistAbout Me
I came to psychotherapy training as a result of my own therapy experiences, and my working life within social care settings and also Higher Education. I have found that psychotherapy can offer a unique space, that allows you to explore your individual life experiences in a safe, confidential, and containing space. I work in a warm relational way, which means we will spend time building both trust and safety within therapy. Only when this sense of safety and trust is established, over time can we begin to explore what brings you to therapy in more depth. I work weekly or twice weekly with clients as this helps build consistency for you as the client. We would meet on the same day(s) and time(s) each week. I believe therapy is a co-created space, there are two of us working together and alongside each other.
Our earliest relationships can also impact us and part of the way I work is to help you explore what those look and felt like, as well as the here and now. I am respectful and mindful that you may bring diverse experiences of power, oppression, and discrimination with you and that these form part of who you are. We are formed not just by our 'family' but also by the wider social world, and these aspects of your experiences and stories, are welcome in therapy with me.
At all times, I aim to stand with you as you begin to find your voice in therapy. Every client is unique to me, and therefore every therapy will be unique to you, created by us in relation to each other. Through psychotherapy, you may find new ways of being in relationship to others in your life, ways of being and experiencing the world and making sense and meaning of your life experiences.
