About Me

I am a down to earth, approachable and experienced psychotherapist offering support to individuals in central London. I work in SW1W, within walking distance of Victoria station.

I am passionate about helping people to reach their full potential and live more fulfilled lives. I have extensive experience of working with adults of all ages and from various different social and cultural backgrounds with issues such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, bereavement, loss, sexual abuse and trauma as well as other issues.

Having studied psychology at university I went on to work with people with emotional and behavioural difficulties in a residential setting and also volunteered with the Norfolk Eating Disorders Association (now known as Eating Matters). I thoroughly enjoyed my work and decided to further my qualification and experience to pursue a vocation in psychotherapy and counselling. I chose to study for an MSc at the Metanoia Institute in London. This was a rigorous 6 year training programme at one of the UK's leading psychotherapy and counselling training organisations.

As well as my training and clinical experience in psychotherapy and counselling I have 9 years experience of working in education. I understand and appreciate the demands and pressures of working in schools.

How I Work

I believe that each individual is unique and so tailor my approach to your individual needs. My role in therapy is to help you to understand yourself and your experience better, to help you to become more aware of your own resources and to find a way through your difficulty towards resolution and a more fulfilled way of living. In this I aim to build a safe and supportive relationship with you in which we can work collaboratively to explore the difficulties you are experiencing.

Maybe you feel sad or depressed, perhaps you are experiencing persistent thoughts and unwanted memories, maybe you have suffered a bereavement or maybe the problem is is less clear but you have a sense of feeling stuck or something just doesn't feel right. Whatever the problem is therapy can be a very useful way of understanding yourself and emotions that are difficult to identify, giving perspective and fresh insight into life, relationships and work. I can provide you with a safe and confidential space where I will listen to you without preconceptions or judgment, but with empathy, understanding and compassion. I am committed to supporting you wholeheartedly in exploring and understanding yourself and working towards finding a more satisfying way of living.

Research shows the the effectiveness of therapy relies upon the relationship you have with your therapist and so it is important that you feel comfortable with your therapist. I offer a lower fee for an initial session for us to meet each other and give you an opportunity to ask any questions you have. This can be a useful way for us to decide if we would like to work together without an obligation to continue. If you would like to find out more or would like to book a session then please do get in touch. I aim to respond within 48 working hours.
