It can be difficult to begin counselling and many people ask 'How long will it take?'. I find that we are all unique and that there is no set answer to this question. I will usually answer it by exploring with you how you've experienced your life and what sort of changes you'd like to make and we'll take things from there. You and I listen together to what you have to say and my role is to help you understand and explore what you are feeling and how you experience this feeling on many different levels of your experience. The two of us then work together to see how you heard what you said and how you experienced your feelings and to note those words and feelings that were not said or expressed. We often use imagination and fantasy to help explore areas of your lived experience that may be difficult to talk about and which can support your exploration.
