Alessia Chiappino
Relational counsellorAbout Me
I am an experienced Psychotherapeutic Counsellor offering short term counselling, open ended psychotherapy, group work and couples counselling.
You may be seeking therapy because you are currently feeling stuck or dissatisfied with life, looking to resolve a particular issue, in the midst of a crisis, or in need of a space to unburden your thoughts and feelings in a safe, warm and non-judgmental setting.
Counselling and psychotherapy can help with social anxiety and generalised anxiety disorder, feeling sad and depression, relationship issues and family issues, panic attacks, bereavement, addictions, low self-esteem, traumatic experiences, abuse, being highly sensitive, anger management, work stress and more. This is done within the context of a therapeutic relationship that offers warmth and acceptance as well as appropriate levels of challenge.
The process of sharing your emotions in a confidential space can help you make sense of your life - through our work together your self awareness will increase, and you will start processing thoughts and feelings in new ways. You will re-evaluate your habitual thinking and behaviour, and in doing so learn to live in a way that feels more authentic. This can help you to find more fulfilment in life, and to respond creatively, rather than habitually, to circumstances and others.
If you would like to find out more please contact me to arrange an assessment session. We can explore what you want to gain from therapy, and see if we feel comfortable working together. If you wish to proceed we would normally meet weekly for 50 minute sessions and regularly review our progress to ensure your needs are being met.

Training and qualifications
I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor in advanced ongoing clinical training. My training is in Transactional Analysis, Relational Psychotherapy & more recently in Transpersonal Psychology. My method is Integrative, meaning that I combine a variety of approaches so that I can tailor a treatment plan most suited to each individual.
I belong to BACP, UKATA and EATA and I am bound by their ethical codes of practice. I attend regular clinical supervision to support my work, and seminars and workshops in order to strengthen my skills and keep up with current thinking.
Having worked for several years both in individual and group settings with people belonging to minority groups, I take an anti-discriminatory stance and am committed to learning about the impact of discrimination in all forms and examining my own biases and assumptions in the process.
