Al Tyers
Psychodynamic psychotherapistAbout Me
I specialise in counselling people with anxiety, low self-esteem and self-confidence issues. In my experience, these can be a product of childhood or early life situations, and sometimes come to the foreground when difficult events happen.
If you are looking for a counsellor who will listen, will value you, and who can offer you a supportive, confidential and safe space to think about what's going on in your life right now then I can help. I see people of all ages and ethnicities, and have experience of working with people who are experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, depression, anger, relationship problems, trauma, or feeling a lack of meaning in their life.
Sometimes those issues might have been happening for a very long time, sometimes they might emerge after an upsetting life event: a bereavement, a loss, a separation, family problems, children, fertility, work, money or any other thing.
I believe that by understanding ourselves better, both today and by thinking about what's gone in our past, we can find a way to live more fulfilling lives and have more rewarding relationships in the future. Even when things are very tough, I believe there is hope. By the fact that you are searching for a therapist on this site, I think you do as well. I always encourage clients to notice in themselves how resilient they have been to get through life up to this point.
Starting therapy can be a daunting and brave step. If you'd like to ask any questions about how I could help you then please get in touch for a no-obligation, free chat. Given the nature of my work, the phone is off when I am with a client but if you leave a message or text I will get back to you as soon as I can.
I see people for once-weekly therapy. I offer long-term open-ended therapy or short-term therapy depending on what is right for the individual client.
I'm working online right now, and usually from a comfortable and quiet consulting room nearby to Farringdon, Chancery Lane and Angel in Clerkenwell London EC1.
