About me

My name is Rupinder Sagoo (MBACP Accred). I am a Counselling Psychotherapist, accredited by the BACP. I have been working in the field of mental health for over 25 years. As a Counselling Psychotherapist I specialise in what is called Holistic and Integrative Psychotherapy. This means working with the whole-person and not simply the presenting issue(s). My approach to psychotherapy is that one size does not fit all. I believe in synergy, which is the concept that ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts’. And so, if one does not consider the other aspects of the human condition, there is the danger of missing something. Humans are multifactorial and therefore their solutions are also multifactional. Talking therapy can be sufficient at times, but for just as many people it is simply not enough. One has to consider the wider context of an individual’s life to find the best solutions for their issues. This is why when working with clients I consider a range of factors including sleep, diet, nutrition, relationships, whether one has meaning and purpose as well as their emotional and psychological status. By looking at the whole person and their whole story, I have found that you not only get better results, but these results are sustainable. Although I do have a whole-person approach, I also work with other modalities such as CBT and solution focused therapy, depending on the needs of the client. Amongst the issues I’m qualified and experienced in are low self-esteem, bereavement and loss, addiction, anger management, anxiety, low mood and depression, work related stress, young adults in further education, exam related stress, relationship breakdown, changing careers, and loss of meaning and purpose. This is not a definitive list but gives an overview of my background. If there is something not listed here that you need help with, please do not hesitate to make contact and I can let you know if I am able to help… or I can make an appropriate referral to someone with the necessary expertise.
