About me
I offer a safe, accepting space where we can explore your experience, without judgement, in your time and at your pace. This will help you to take a step back from a situation that may feel frightening, depressing or restrictive, and see it from a fresh perspective. In time you'll see that you have choices and ways forward; possibly more than you think. How I work I specialise in Gestalt therapy which focuses on bringing different aspects of yourself into present awareness. I tailor my approach to your needs rather than using a fixed programme, but it would typically include the following elements: Assessment: Understanding your experience in your terms and using your description and your language. Stabilisation: Working out what works best for you in terms of feeling grounded in the here and now, rather than mind wandering in the future or the past. That could be through getting out of your head and connecting with your body and what that's telling you. Or it may be really paying attention to the world around you in the present moment. Exploration: Of how you are in the world in terms of relationships patterns, patterns of behaviour etc so that you are more aware of you and your process. That might be through talking things over, but sometimes words aren't enough. If that's the case then we can explore other ways, whether that’s through drawing, playing, moving or making. Integration: bringing the insights you gain about yourself together so that you can see a way forward.

Training and qualifications
I have a Level 6 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the Metanoia Institute specialising in Gestalt Therapy, an approach that focuses on present awareness and developing new perspectives. I also volunteer at the Cape Project, focusing on individuals with enduring and often complex mental health issues, as well as Ealing Abbey Counselling Service. I’ve worked in business consultancy and market research for over 25 years so I understand the stresses of a professional life and the pressures of the commercial world. As a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), I adhere to their ethical framework in my practice. I'm fully covered by Professional Indemnity Insurance and work under regular supervision to ensure the quality of my service. I’m currently furthering my development through studying for an MSc in Gestalt Psychotherapy at the Metanoia Institute.
