About me

Hi, I’m Amelia,  a warm welcome to my Coaching Practice.

Coaching is all about self-actualisation.

My aim is to professionally and skilfully enable and empower you to help yourself, leading to lasting results and change.

I have a genuine interest in people and my approach is warm, positive and sensible. I love coaching, as it is a powerful process to get both immediate and lasting change.

As human beings, each of us is different and unique. We all respond to and cope with things in very different ways. You will have your own reasons about why you want to get coaching.  You may feel stuck, or that you are living a life that is not true to you. Possibly, you are grappling with a personal issue or something at work, or just feel that you are not really maximising on some areas of your life. This may be for reasons that are not clear, or you may just want a coach to enable you to ‘get there’.

I provide a warm, safe and non-judgemental and totally confidential space. With me, in this positive environment, we can collaboratively work towards you achieving your goals and aspirations.

Coaching can be hard work as it requires some commitment to achieve change and personal growth. As sessions progress, it will be empowering and exhilarating to see things changing, and sometimes, this can happen surprisingly fast! The more you put in, the more you get out.

About me:

I am a qualified Coach, Psychotherapist, and Integrative Counsellor . I am accredited by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and I strictly adhere to their ethical code of practice.

I have coached people with a wide variety of issues for things they wanted to change and improve, in both their personal and professional lives.

I have also been working for over 25 years as an Occupational Therapist in the NHS. I specialise in Work life balance, Chronic Fatigue, Pain, Depression, Anxiety, and Sleep problems. A lot of my work focussing on setting and achieving goals.

Working with people from a variety of different backgrounds ages and cultures brings me pleasure and enjoyment. I have a rich life experience, and have lived abroad. I have grown up children and aging parents.

I am open minded and have a good sense of humour. Coaching isn’t always deadly serious, and a little bit of laughter can sometimes help towards achieving excellent results.

Initial session:

When we first meet, we will have an assessment session. We will discuss what you feel your requirements and expectations are.

We shall then agree on, and map out what the most helpful way forward is for you.

As the first session  we will discuss any questions or concerns you may have about coaching. If, at the end of the session, you decide that you would like me to work with you , we will discuss practical details like frequency and times of sessions. Usually, about 6 sessions suffice.

How I work:

Being a Coach and Integrative counsellor allows me to be very client centred and work in a creative and flexible way. I work in a very collaborative way.

I mostly use a model called Personal Consultancy.

Coaching works best when it is tailored to your needs. When coaching, I use a Solution Focused approach, and I have access to a variety of tools and techniques that help with the process. You may at times, want to use the space to talk, offload, or explore other issues that may be stopping you achieving some of your goals. As a counsellor, I am equipped to explore some of this with you.

Counselling differs from counselling in that counselling focuses more on exploring, understanding and deconstructing personal issues and events, whereas coaching helps you come up with a concrete plan about how to change things or achieve specific goals. Coaching is less reflective and more proactive . I use a mixture of both in the sessions, but the balance can shift according to your needs.
