About Me

I am a qualified psychotherapist offering one to one integrative psychotherapy in Larkhall, Bath (BA1 6RA) and Central Bath (BA1 2ED), for young people (18+) adults and couples. Both locations are easily accessible from BA2 and other areas in and around Bath, including Bristol, Keynsham, Chippenham, Melksham and Corsham.

About You

Anxiety, depression, abuse, relationship difficulties - these may be some of the reasons that have brought you to this site.  You are looking for someone who can listen to you without judgement, help you understand behaviour which is letting you down, or feelings which are powerful, sometimes overwhelming.

Are you having relationship difficulties or family problems?  Do you struggle with depression or are you anxious at times?  Have you had major changes in your life such as illness, bereavement, relationship breakup, or been affected by an affair or betrayal?  Perhaps life is getting on top of you and perhaps it feels like no one understands or is there to help.  Talking to me can help.

About Me

My training, primarily Gestalt, also covered a number of therapeutic techniques and I aim to use the ones best suited to you and what you feel comfortable with.  I create a friendly, kind and safe space for you to work through the issues you may have, whilst feeling supported, valued and heard.  My experience is wide ranging from anxiety and abuse to panic disorders to relationships to work stress, and other stress. I have a particular expertise in domestic abuse.

Anxiety wears you down, stops you sleeping, hinders your work life, gets in the way of how you view yourself and others.  You may know why you are anxious - but still the thoughts go round and round and you don't know how to make them stop.

Talking stuff through and getting feedback will give you some tools to help you manage all this anxiety.  On the way, you will gain useful insights, learn more about yourself and what gets in the way of making you feel better.

How it works

Normally we would start with an introductory session to see if you feel comfortable talking to me (which is really important), and then we would decide together a weekly time to meet for 50 minutes, and how many weeks might work best for you. I can offer both short term focussed work, and longer term in depth work, depending on what you need.

Our sessions together are a collaborative treatment based on the relationship that you and I will have. I would ask you to talk about what is going on for you, and I would provide a supportive environment that allows you to talk openly with someone who’s objective, neutral and nonjudgmental. We would work together to identify and change the thought and behaviour patterns that are keeping you from feeling your best. This can involve going through how childhood patterns of relating are affecting how you relate to others now.

By the time you’re done, you will not only have solved the problem that brought you in, but you will have learned new skills so you can better cope with whatever challenges arise in the future.

Further information

I specialise in working with couples and with those in other close relationships.

I also offer individuals particular expertise and experience in abuse and bullying, stress and anxiety, compulsions and obsessions, self-esteem issues and issues relating to being assertive and self-confident.

Imagine looking in the mirror one morning and seeing smiling eyes, rather than worried frown, or seeing a new found confidence in that reflection.

That can be what therapy does for you.
