Whether you are really struggling with life or have an underlying feeling that you could be more connected with yourself and those around you, counselling can create the space you need to move forward.

I am a BACP registered integrative psychotherapist and work with a wide range of issues including anxiety, low self-esteem, issues from childhood, challenges with relationships, bereavement and depression. I offer a warm, empathic, open and non-judgemental space for you to explore the issues that have prompted you to seek counselling.

As an integrative psychotherapist, I draw on different approaches depending upon what best supports clients. These include humanistic, relational, cognitive behavioural and psychodynamic approaches. I offer both short and long-term therapy and have worked with clients from many diverse backgrounds and varying personal situations.

My work:

One of the most important experiences I have had in my life was a confidential counselling relationship in which I felt safe and supported to explore the issues that were of most concern to me. It is this that I seek to provide clients, whether their reasons for coming to therapy are to change ways of coping in life that no longer work, to improve relationships, feel more in touch with themselves, or any of dozens of other reasons that might prompt someone to seek support.

As an integrative psychotherapist I have found that different tried and tested theoretical approaches mean I am able to offer an approach that values the uniqueness of each person and their circumstances. For example, some clients might be drawn to exploring their past life dynamics in the present, while others perhaps need a more cognitive approach. Whichever approaches are most appropriate, my work is underpinned by the person-centred principles such as empathy.

Training and qualifications

I have an MA/Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling from Middlesex University, having trained at The Minster Centre in London. As well as seeing clients in private practice in Rotherhithe (SE16) and Waterloo (SE1), I am a community bereavement counsellor with the Haringey Bereavement Service, run by St Joseph’s Hospice, Hackney.

I have previously worked in communications for a major UK health sector charity and in overseas disaster relief and long-term international development for UK aid and development agencies. Prior to that I was a journalist.

Fees

I charge £50 per 50-minute session and a reduced fee of £35 for an initial assessment session.
