Joanne Harris Integrative counsellor , NW6
I have over 20yrs experience of working with people and enabling other's to grow, develop, change and heal. Aside from being an integrative counsellor, I am a teacher in arts higher education and a yoga/meditation teacher. I have worked in primary care for the Low Cost Therapy Service attached to the Minster Centre in NW London (where I have trained) and in a private practice in Central London.
I bring a holistic (mind and body) view to my counselling work. I am integrative in that I can draw on different theoretical approaches and work with thoughts, feelings and sensation.
The most important thing for therapy is the relationship we build so I aim to create a safe, reliable and confidential space for you to explore whatever is concerning you. I will support you and challenge you when needed.
The first step would be an initial conversation on the phone or through Skype/FaceTime and then you can decide if you would like to meet. Our first meeting would be an assessment for both of us to see if we can work together. If we decided to work together I would then offer you a weekly session day/time. I have some guidance notes to help you further understand the framework of how I work as a counsellor.
Training and qualifications
I hold a Foundation Certificate in Integrative Counselling and a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling, both from the Minster Centre in London, NW6.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP) and I abide by their code of professional ethics.
I have a yoga teacher qualification and a number of specialist yoga/meditation trainings. I see yoga as a therapeutic adjunct to counselling/therapy and yoga and meditation or mindfulness for their therapeutic benefits in their own right. Please see www.thinkfeelbe.co.uk for my yoga work.
I have a sliding fee scale for a 50 mins appointment which is based on ability to pay and time of the session.
I may have some low cost slots available so please ask.
Please note: I am not currently registered with BUPA or any similar health care provider. If you want to claim your fees back you will need to check with your insurance as to what they require.
