Joanne Harris Integrative counsellor , EC4Y
Welcome and thank you for looking into my profile.
The most important thing for therapy to be meaningful and helpful, is the relationship we build. My aim is to create for you a safe, reliable and confidential space for you to explore whatever is concerning you. I will support you and gently challenge you when/if needed. You will be enabled to find your way through what is troubling and needing attention.
I bring a holistic (mind and body) view to my counselling work. I work with thoughts, feelings and the body if appropriate. I am integrative in that I can utilise a variety of therapeutic skills and draw on different theoretical approaches.
Aside from being an integrative counsellor, I am a teacher in arts higher education and a yoga/meditation teacher. I have worked in primary care for the Low Cost Therapy Service in Queens Park NW6, in a private practice in London W1, as well as having my own private practice in Central London and NW10. (Please note: I may do an initial appointment/assessment in Queens Park for clients I see in NW10).
The first step would be an initial conversation on the phone for 10mins then you can decide if you would like to meet. Our first meeting would be an assessment for both of us to see if we can work together. If we decided to work together we would agree a weekly session day/time.
We can decide at the initial appointment or soon after how many sessions we will have: short term will be up to 24 sessions, longterm is ongoing and can last for as long as needed. We can also decide what to focus on or allow the work to unfold.

Training and qualifications
I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling from the very well respected training organisation, The Minster Centre, in London, NW6. I expect to gain an MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy in September 2018.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP) and I abide by their code of professional ethics.
I have a yoga teacher qualification and a number of specialist yoga/meditation trainings. I see yoga as a therapeutic adjunct to counselling/therapy and yoga and meditation or mindfulness for their therapeutic benefits in their own right. Please see www.thinkfeelbe.co.uk for my yoga work.
I have a BA in Humanities and an MA in Art History.
I have a sliding fee scale for a 50 mins appointment which is based on ability to pay and time of the session. For Central London this is £60-80, for NW London this is £50-70.
I may have some low cost slots available so please ask.
Please note: I am not currently registered with BUPA or any similar health care provider. If you want to claim your fees back you will need to check with your insurance as to what they require.
