About Me

Practice update. As of October 2022 my practice is currently paused. I will update in due course.

Hello, I'm Joanna. I am a fully qualified counsellor working in private practice . Before that I completed a successful placement within an NHS setting, as well setting up a counselling service within a young people's mental health charity.

Due to Covid 19, I am currently continuing to offer both telephone and on-line counselling.

Prior work experience includes a range of educational and housing posts, often with a support/mentoring element.

I am a warm and caring counsellor and can offer you a safe space to talk through the challenges you are currently facing and the struggles you may be dealing with at this time. Or it might be that you need to work through some issues that are affecting you from your past. Or you might not actually know what it is, but you know you need some support. Whatever's going on for you, coming for counselling gives you the chance to talk about things in a different way.

Sometimes things can feel very tricky and we may feel that situations are hopeless, but working with a counsellor can be positive as it allows us to work through issues in a safe non-judgemental space at a pace that suits you. I am able to walk alongside you on your journey. You can bring whatever you need to counselling, and we will work together.

Sometimes taking that initial step can feel really hard, but taking the smallest step can be the start of a personal journey of change and growth.

I have both personal and professional experience of working with people on the autistic spectrum, including those with Asperger's.

I have experienced a life changing health situation, which I believe gives me added insight into those circumstances.

I've also worked with many clients affected by anxiety and panic attacks - it can have a really dramatic effect on how they are living their lives. But there are lots of ways and tools that we can use to help you manage anxiety if that's something that you are dealing with.
