About Me

I'm easy to find, on Deansgate in the heart of Manchester city centre. I work with all sorts of people: students, creatives, entrepreneurs and professionals. Many clients see me regularly and consider therapy sessions to be important for their wellbeing, and not just for moments of crisis. We all have pressures on our time - work meetings, rotas, caring responsibilities - so I keep appointments as flexible as possible, with plenty of evening slots as well as early morning and daytime appointments. I have an online booking system and if you can't make it over to Deansgate, we can arrange online therapy sessions.

Talking therapies can help us to work through grief, anger, guilt and frustration. It can be such a relief to share the feelings you usually have to hide. Talking about feelings can be hard work, and emotional, but often there is a lot of laughter, too, and a sense of release when you confront things that have been troubling you.

My therapeutic approach combines Person-Centred Counselling with Transactional Analysis. You are always in charge, and you set your own boundaries. Using Transactional Analysis means we have some tools to analyse your situation in greater depth, and help put you in control of your life. Effective therapy is about forming a therapeutic relationship and I am interested in getting to know you, and understanding the way you feel.

Naturally, your confidentiality is absolutely respected.

I had a career in medical publishing before starting my own small publishing business (and having some unexpected success along the way as a food writer). I know about the pressures of management and the highs and lows of self-employment.

I’ve seen my share of life events. And like many good counsellors, I only discovered the benefits of ‘talking therapies’ by experiencing them myself.
