Gita Arbabi Psychodynamic psychotherapist , WC1E

Are you trying to get on with things in life but your negative thoughts and feelings get in the way, leaving you feeling anxious or depressed?

Do you ever catch yourself being critical, judgmental, or full of fear and worry?

Hello. My name is Gita and I specialise in helping you to free yourself from anxiety and  negative behavioural patterns that have taken hold leaving you feeling stuck, confused, and even more anxious. Nothing is more exhausting than battling with overwhelming feelings every day and not knowing what to do with them.

You may be experiencing:

* flash of anger

* a sense of feeling stuck, confused or anxious, whether in your job, relationship or other aspect of your life

* over-sensitivity and anxiety much of the time

* a feeling of being overwhelmed or out of control

* having negative thoughts that can spiral out of control
* feeling helpless
* difficulty sleeping

* depressed moods and lack of motivation

* difficulty finding a sense of purpose and making decisions
* fear of uncertainty

* relationship difficulties - either clinging to a bad relationship or allowing a good one to spiral out of control

* career difficulties - finding yourself either stuck at a job that you don't like or not being able to find a job suited to your skills or potential

Having to work for NHS as a psychotherapist and also other voluntary mental health sectors, I have a broad range of experience working with different mental health issues and appreciate the burden of carrying negative emotions around.

  • How I can help you to become free of these difficult feelings

There are times and times in life when we become anxious, eat a lot, shop a lot, succumb to all sorts of addictions, get locked into depression and negative behaviours in our work, relationships and life in general, not knowing the reason behind them. We become physically and emotionally helpless and agitated. That is because we have no idea where these feelings and actions are coming from and are not able to 'think' about them. Some of these thoughts and feelings can be unconscious with possible roots in our past experiences and relationships.

In the sessions with me, I will help you to become 'curious' about your feelings, thoughts, actions and these possible roots. Every session, you can bring anything that you like and we will work together to understand them and 'think' about your difficult feelings and unravel these puzzling roots. After a while, you'll find yourself being able to think about these intense thoughts and feelings on your own, instead of becoming overwhelmed by them or acting them out. This can be a great experience for you and I assure you that you will be thrilled by this achievement.

Step by step you will be able to use this tool of thinking at your work, relationship and personal life, and build a secure self to rely on at times of anxiety and stress. I will help you to feel more in control and also okay to ‘let go’ and you will find yourself better able to cope with matters that are beyond your control.

 I assure you that this journey comes with the prospect of a better tomorrow and we'll work together to get you there. My confidence comes from having had the privilege of witnessing my clients turn their lives around.

  • The next step

If you feel you're ready to take the next step, please feel free to contact me on 07776043346. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to give us a chance to talk about your worries and to see how counselling with me may feel to you. Alternatively, if you are ready to get started with counselling, we can discuss arrangements for your first initial consultation session.

I offer flexible treatment: you can choose open-ended sessions that continue for as long or short a time as is necessary to resolve the issues you’re dealing with; or you can opt for short-term therapy which can last anywhere from six to twelve weeks which is more goal oriented.
