Hello I'm Ellis Johnson, a fully qualified psychodynamic psychotherapeutic counsellor based in Brighton and Hove and a registered member of BACP. I have 5 years experience as an advocate, counsellor and trainer in the voluntary sector and I understand that for many people, asking for help can feel unfamiliar and anxiety-provoking. I also understand with the right support, counselling can be a transformative and validating experience that can make us feel more connected to ourselves and the world around us.
Whilst I work with people from across all parts of society, my specialism is in LGBTQ lives, particularly gender. This includes working with trans/non binary people, those questioning their gender identity, and those adjacent such as partners or family. As a person of colour, I am knowledgeable about intersectional impacts of race, as well as class, culture and disability on mental health.
My aim is for us to develop a deeper understanding of how your past, and perhaps your identity, impacts on how you experience the world today, explore the ways of being in your present and work together towards change for your future. If you think such a space could be helpful for you, please feel welcome to get in touch for us to discuss further, or have a look at my website www.transcounselling.co.uk.
