Psychodynamic psychotherapistAbout Me
I trained as a psychotherapist 35 years ago, and have used the experience of these years to broaden my approach in response to every individual's particular needs and situation, including short-term counselling.
Many people will have experienced trauma or serious disappointment in adult life, which may or may not reflect events in childhood or adolescence. A sense of futility or low-level anxiety can result from these events, and the experience of exploring them with an understanding therapist, who does not judge or need to feed in their own opinions, can be the key to not repeating the mistakes of the past. The enduring effect will be to enjoy a fuller life with more rewarding relationships.

Training and qualifications
I am a member of the Forum for Independent Psychotherapists, and until recently was Chair of the Accreditation Committee. I worked for many years in the filed of addictions, and in the area of mental health. Twenty years of working with Freedom from Torture has left me with an enduring appreciation of people's capacity to recover from trauma and exile, and a familiarity with cultures widely different from my own.
However, there is no league table of suffering, and any experience of distress may be helped by talking to an empathic therapist.
I also offer supervision, to both groups and individuals.
