Debbie Clements Relational counsellor , LS10
Hi I'm Debbie and I offer sessions from a relaxed space in the centre of Leeds. I also offer online and phone sessions so you can attend sessions from the comfort of your home.
My first focus is on helping you to feel comfortable and welcome-it's not always easy making the move to come to counselling! We would then look at how we might work together to help you to get what you need from counselling. You may have a clear goal in mind that i can support you to work towards. Or you may just need a space where you can get things off your chest or even just sit in silence and be reminded that you are not alone. At our first meeting we will discuss more about your needs, you can hear how i work and see if it feels right for you. There is no obligation to continue.
I've undergone a great deal of training. Please see here for more information: http://counsellingserviceleeds.co.uk/about/. I continue to professionally develop so that i can be the best counsellor for you. I adhere to the BACP code of ethics so you can be assured of a fair and ethical service.
Although i work generally, i have particular experience, skills and knowledge around the following areas: gender, sexuality, abuse and identity.
In addition, I have over 20 years experience of supporting young people (I'm JNC qualified) with a background in youth and community development. Furthermore, I have specialist experience in supporting (adult and child) survivors of abuse and have worked extensively with the only specialist boys service in the country as well as the local service supporting girls.
My approach is non-directive. I recognise you are the expert in who you are (even if you may not feel like it right now!) I seek to create a space where you feel safe and able to express what you need to. Where appropriate i introduce relevant psychological theory and always seek to work in a way that aids your self awareness while keeping you safe.
If you would like to book an initial session, or have a question please feel free to get in touch.
