About Me

I am a qualified Psychodynamic Counsellor and work with both individuals and groups.

I trained in the Psychodynamic approach at Brighton University and I have studied Group Psychotherapy with the IGA (Institute of Group Analysis).

I am also a trained practitioner of “Brainspotting”, an exciting new brain-body therapy treatment method deriving from EMDR. It aims to help focus and process, through the deep brain, sources of many emotional, somatic and performance problems. It is also very effective with people who have experienced all forms of trauma.

Before coming to work in Brighton, I lived in Paris for 8 years. I carried out individual and group training, within a number of large international companies.

I have experience of working with clients with a range of issues ranging from anxiety, panic attacks, depression, OCD, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, addictions, trauma and abuse, problems with self confidence and self esteem and grief and loss.

I work at The Rock Clinic and The Hove Therapy Rooms and have also been doing project work at the Mind Charity in Brighton.

Therapeutic Approach

I believe in the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship to improve relationships, change unwanted thoughts and patterns of behaviour, heal past wounds, and promote personal awareness, growth and well-being. I aim to offer a safe, respectful and non-judgmental space, where clients can expect to be treated with compassion and empathy. Having established a trusting relationship, I work collaboratively with clients to help them identify and work towards reaching their goals.

I tailor the way I work to fit each individual client, and utilise various theoretical approaches depending on the client’s unique issues and needs. The basis of my work, from my core training, is psychodynamic and relational. I have however trained in and studied a number of techniques and approaches, which I discuss with clients before using.

A deep respect for the human drive towards health and wholeness, which I have the privilege to witness and experience with clients, continues to underpin and inspire my work.

Therapeutic Process

Each individual session is 50 minutes long.

The length of the process is dependent on the goals of the client, and can be agreed at the first few sessions and discussed throughout. For therapy to be effective, a commitment of either weekly or fortnightly sessions is recommended.

I offer an introductory session at £10 where you can ask any questions you might have about counselling and my practice to help you to in decide whether I might be the right counsellor for you at this time or whether perhaps I can recommend you to somebody else.
