About Me

I offer a wide range of psychotherapy and personal development work, dealing with various issues including anxiety, depression and loss. My particular interest is in issues around identity, life transitions and workplace issues.

In therapy, I’d like you to have the opportunity to discuss what you may not feel able to share elsewhere. So often, I’ve seen how once people have a safe, confidential, supportive space to put their experience into words, they’re more able to manage how they feel. They become more emotionally resilient and find new options in relation to old behaviours. This frees them to take more meaning and enjoyment in their relationships. Many difficulties represent a struggle with issues and conflicts from the past. Self-awareness offers the opportunity to move away from the resulting patterns and repetitions.

As well as dealing with the past, we can give attention to your current situation and how you wish to pursue your life. The increasing pace and complexity of modern life can, by itself, cause emotional difficulties. We’re extremely varied in what we desire, what troubles us, and what makes us happier. I feel that each therapy has to reflect the unique needs of each person. In times of change or crisis, some feelings and thoughts are too much for one mind – but two people working together can make progress. I've worked with people from all walks of life, and I'm sensitive to the wide variety of values, lifestyles and identities that people pursue in contemporary society.

I have a particular interest in workplace problems and organisational issues. I have experience as both a manager and a trainer. I offer executive coaching and employee support, helping people to address the many pressures they face in the modern workplace. I originally trained to be a solicitor and my workplace issues expertise is informed by my legal experience in the commercial sector, which has included work in a city law firm and a large plc.

Fees

My fee is £70 per session.

I'm a registered provider for a number of private insurers. If your policy covers psychotherapy sessions, I’d be happy to discuss the referral process when we first speak and, if you’d prefer, also contact your insurer to confirm the details of your referral.

In my current practice, I offer weekly or twice-weekly sessions. Some people attend on an open-ended basis, others use sessions until a particular issue has been resolved.

Training and qualifications

I've been working as a psychotherapist since 1999, and I’m now in private practice seeing clients in Brixton Hill, South London.

I’m a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist registered with the UKCP and a Senior Accredited Counsellor with the BACP. I completed my psychoanalytic training with The Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis. Earlier in my career, I completed four years of training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy at Metanoia Institute.

I've worked in various roles offering assistance to people suffering from difficulty or distress in their lives. I have crisis support experience, and before my practice as a psychotherapist, I worked in the legal profession dealing with domestic violence, family and welfare issues.

I am experienced in individual and group clinical supervision. I have experience as a practitioner, manager and supervisor across NHS, voluntary sector, private, EAP and health insurance provision of clinical services. My previous work has included managing the counselling service that provides talking therapies across GP surgeries in Lambeth.

My development as a psychoanalytic practitioner continues through my attendance at group relations conferences, including those organised by the A.K. Rice Institute. I’ve also completed the Post-Graduate Diploma in the Psychodynamics of Human Development offered by The British Psychotherapy Foundation, as well as the one-year Foundation Course in Group Analysis at The Institute of Group Analysis.
