About Me

I am an experienced counsellor working with adult individuals and couples. I use an integrative approach combining various theoretical models suited to a person's individual needs. It is a collaborative approach in which we work together to make sense of what is happening in your life and help you gain a deeper understanding of the reasons that have brought you to counselling. Often these include negative ways of thinking or unhelpful patterns of behaviour that have their origins in childhood and leave you feeling stuck and unable to move on in your life.

My experience includes relationship therapy and communication training. I help couples communicate in more respectful and less hurtful ways.
I also have a particular interest in helping parents who have been rejected by their adult children or are dealing with the devastating effects of estrangement.

I offer a warm, safe and non-judgemental space in which you can open up and be yourself in order to explore any difficulties troubling you. Most of us struggle with difficult experiences at some point in our lives and these may seem overwhelming and leave one confused and unable to make sense of them. Sometimes life may seem empty and meaningless or we may be experiencing deep emotional pain after a traumatic event such as the loss of a loved one or the break up of a relationship. Most people benefit enormously from talking confidentially to a professional therapist.

Making the initial contact is often the most daunting step as it's not easy to open up to a complete stranger so I encourage you to call me regarding any difficulties you may have. You have nothing to lose.

The first session can last up to 1 1/2 hours and is the same cost as the usual 1 hour session so that you can come and tell me about yourself and see if you feel comfortable about working with me and if I think I am able to help you. We can then set up further sessions on a weekly basis either short term or open-ended.

I look forward to speaking to you.
