Dr Ajay Khandelwal Psychoanalytic analyst , SE1
I am currently working with high achieving professionals who are in difficulties due to anxiety or addiction problems. You may have experience of breaking down, feeling on edge, being unable to cope. Or you may be finding yourself repeating patterns of destructive behaviour.
I have 25 years experience of working with adults with a range of psychological difficulties. Unlike a medical doctor, I don't prescribe a cure for you, or medication. I don't tell you how to live your life, or what to eat. What I do is to tune into what is going on for you during the therapeutic encouter. Through listening to your words and body I am able to work with you to find out what is troubling you and stay with it long enough to help you find an answer.
My first job was working in therapeutic community with adults who had come out of long term psychiatric care. I have also run an inner city drug and alcohol treatment service for adults in the criminal justice system. Working in these acute settings means that I can know work with complicated and difficult everyday problems that you maybe experiencing. I have spent 1000s of hours as a psychoanalyst listening to excruciating problems faced by professionals working in central London. I don't work from a text book or manual, like self-help book, or a CBT therapist. If only it was that simple. I will respond to you in a unique way, based on what you bring.
